Doug Fish

President

Combining the vision of an entrepreneur with the enthusiasm of an Eagle Scout, Doug brings an unparalleled level of energy to building our clients’ brands. In 1979, he finished college and went to work in the agency business. After 24 years as an account manager, VP Client Service, partner and owner, Doug founded Fish Marketing to provide full service marketing to small and medium-sized businesses.

As the agency's "Big Fish," Doug is always keeping an eye on the big picture, and is actively invested in the success of every client.

He is a past President of the Portland Association of Advertising Agencies, a member of the Portland Ad Federation's Agency Roundtable, a Board member and past Chair of the Salvation Army’s Portland Metro Advisory Board, and a past Marketing Chair for the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce. He is also the founder of Rumble on the River, a nonprofit fundraiser for the Lake Oswego Relay for Life and American Cancer Society. Doug enjoys skiing, watersports, gardening and a good whiskey. He and his wife, clothing designer Michelle DeCourcy, have three daughters.

Meet Nate Parr »

Nate Parr

Account Director

Nate has yet to meet a marketing challenge he couldn’t outsmart or out-strategize. A native Oregonian, he studied at the University of Oregon and Portland State University, graduating with honors and degrees in Marketing and Advertising Management. During his tenure at PSU, Nate was a key member of the team that earned first place in a national marketing competition. Since joining Fish Marketing in 2003, Nate has provided strategy and project management to a wide range of clients.

As Account Director, Nate is actively involved in developing new brand strategies, designing and implementing marketing plans, and overseeing project management for our clients.

Nate is an unabashed (some would say rabid) fan of the Oregon Ducks. Outside the office, he enjoys snowboarding, travel, music, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Meet John Moore »

John Moore

Interactive Director

After graduating from Western State College of Colorado with a degree in English, John read the book "Creating Killer Websites" by David Siegal. Shortly after, he put newspaper writing in the rearview mirror and headed out on the information superhighway. With more than a decade of experience designing and building websites, John is a Google Qualified Professional and Yahoo! Ambassador.

John is well versed in all disciplines of interactive development, from design and programming to marketing and e-commerce. If it’s website-related, he’s the man for the job.

John lives in the Hollywood district of Portland and enjoys snowboarding, biking, literature, music and whiskey. A rain-or-shine bike commuter, he puts even native Oregonians to shame with his fearless disregard of the weather.

Meet Karen Kemp »

Creative Director

Nearly 30 years after creating her first ad, Karen still loves to write. She studied Journalism at the University of Oregon, graduating in the top five percent of her class. Karen’s first advertising job was writing for the in-house broadcast agency of a major NW retailer. She later joined one of Portland’s largest and oldest agencies, rising from Copywriter to Creative Director.

A writer who also happens to have a discerning eye for design and solid marketing chops, Karen is here to ensure our clients' creative messages are compelling and on strategy.

In her spare time, Karen volunteers at Thomas Edison High School, Oregon’s only school for teens with complex learning differences. A voracious reader, she also enjoys movies, traveling, yoga, and spending time with her family.

Meet Desiree Denmark »

Desiree Denmark

Media Director

Desiree was raised on the Oregon coast, moving from Seaside to Portland after hearing the siren call of the "Big City". She started her advertising career at the local FOX affiliate. Later, Desiree spent eight years as a media buyer in the Portland branch of a large national agency, negotiating, planning and placing television and radio schedules for retail and automotive clients in eight different markets.

As our Media Director, Desiree is a savvy planner and shrewd negotiator who treats every penny as if it's her own, to get the most for your media dollars.

In her free time, Desiree enjoys reading just about any book she can get her hands on. When the weather allows, she can be found talking long walks around her Mt. Tabor neighborhood with her husband and daughter.

Kristen O'Toole

Art Director

A genuine home-town girl, Kristen was raised in Portland and is a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She earned her B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Montana State University-Bozeman. As one of Fish Marketing’s first employees, Kristen has served in a variety of agency roles over the years, including production manager, art director, graphic designer and de facto social director.

Whether she's designing a logo, creating a print ad, or laying out a brochure, Kristen's design sensibilities and eye for detail are always right on the mark.

Kristen is a Board member of her local chapter of Zonta International, a women's service organization. She enjoys traveling, running, and spending time with her family and friends. Kristen and her husband, Brandon, share their home with two dogs and a cat.

Mac Strang

Account Manager

As a second-generation ad man, Mac is a born natural when it comes to account work. He earned a degree in History from Pacific University. While at Pacific, Mac played four years of Varsity baseball, where he was known for his versatility. Prior to joining Fish, Mac worked at two other agencies, handling regional and national accounts that ranged from automotive to fast food.

As an Account Manager, Mac serves as the day-to-day contact point for our clients, keeping their goals in the forefront, their projects running smoothly, and all the details under control.

Born and raised in Portland, native son Mac enjoys running and playing basketball to unwind outside of the office. Not surprisingly, he is also a huge supporter of the Portland Timbers and the Oregon Ducks.

Search Marketing Manager

Glenn Roberts

Search Marketing Manager

A proud native Texan, Glenn is an alum of the University of Texas at Austin. He gained his extensive experience in Search Engine Optimization at one of the largest online marketing firms in the country. After a brief stint in fundraising, Glenn relocated to Portland to continue his career in Search Engine Marketing. He recently completed his MBA (with a focus on Marketing) at Marylhurst University.

Glenn manages all the Search Engine Optimization, Google AdWords and Facebook advertising to get the maximum performance out of our clients' digital efforts.

Glenn is an outdoor enthusiast who can often be found hiking in the Columbia River Gorge or snowboarding on Mt. Hood. A passionate traveler, he's always looking forward to his next journey, whether it’s exploring the city of Portland or jetting off to another country.

Meet Micah Godbolt »

Micah Godbolt

Interactive Developer

A creative Jack-of-all-trades, Micah does everything from web design to audio recording, digital photography to video production. After earning his degree in Recording from Middle Tennessee State University, Micah went on to positions in computer instruction and audio-visual tech coordination. Prior to joining Fish Marketing, he was the Website Development Manager at a Washington-based marketing agency.

Here at Fish, Micah provides design and development support for our client’s websites, as well as serving as our “graphic backup” on print and collateral projects.

Micah likes good wine, good food, outdoor photography, and all things Apple. He volunteers at his church running the sound board. With his first child due to arrive this fall, Micah anticipates his primary pastimes will soon include diaper changing and catching up on his sleep.

Michael Rodriguez

Account Coordinator

Michael is destined for greatness. Born with the elder wand in one hand and cloak of invisibility in the other, Michael was admitted to arguably the best school in the state, OSU. While there, he was a member of the marketing club, minored in Spanish, and won an IM soccer league title. After four years of schooling and many long nights, Michael graduated with a degree in Marketing and Summa Cum Laude honors.

As Account Coordinator, Michael handles a wide range of tasks from managing a myriad of account details, to doing competitive research, to getting the mail. All with a smile and a great attitude.

In his off time, Michael likes spending time outdoors. He enjoys camping, soccer, golfing, snowboarding, and pretty much anything you can do outside, including taking long walks on the beach.

Controller

Laurie discovered her natural talent for numbers through a twist of fate. After graduating with a degree in English from the University of Oregon, she set out for Boston and a "temporary" job at a CPA firm. Five years later, Laurie moved back to the Northwest for good, working as the office manager and subsequently, Operations Director, at an advertising/design/interactive firm in Seattle. She joined Fish Marketing as our Controller in 2008.

Laurie oversees all things financial at the agency, while simultaneously handling HR and keeping the office running smoothly—all without breaking a sweat.

Animal lover Laurie is "mom" to a delightful black lab, Lucy, and cats Peanut and Mr. Meaty. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, music, gardening and traveling, especially to Hawaii and Mexico.

Account Coordinator

Brit has the enviable talent of making multi-tasking look practically effortless. Focused and hardworking, she graduated a year early from high school, then went on to earn a double major in Marketing and Account Management at PSU. Brit first joined Fish as an intern in the Fall of 2011, and quickly proved herself to be an invaluable part of the account team.

As a former bartender, Brit has the skills every good Account Coordinator needs: she’s a great listener, always ready for the unexpected, and knows how to keep everybody in line. (She also makes a killer Bloody Mary.)

A true Northwestern girl, Brit likes snowboarding, hiking, fishing, backpacking, and running. She and her husband have two “Jack Rat” terriers who were the ring-bearers at their wedding.

Senior Account Manager

To call Susan a “high achiever” is a bit of an understatement. Prior to joining Fish, she held senior marketing positions in the banking and lifestyle apparel industries. She’s gone swimming with sharks, taught English to Hyundai executives, traveled to 40+ countries, and continues to take MBA and MFA courses at PSU.

Here at Fish, Susan manages a variety of agency accounts, helping clients fully develop their brands and determining the most effective ways to communicate their key marketing messages.

But there’s more to Susan than just hard work. An avid scuba diver, she’s literally traveled around the world to follow her passion. Closer to home, Susan enjoys running, camping, bikram yoga, live music, and is pursuing her second-degree black belt in Taekwondo.
